Previously on iMPACT Wrestling…August 25th, 2011

We are two weeks away from “No Surrender” but this show was all about building to next week’s huge edition of “iMPACT” that will feature a Knockouts Championship match between Mickie James and Winter, along with us finding out who will go to “No Surrender” for the finalist spots in the “Bound for Glory Series”. Plus, Sting and Ric Flair are on a collision course because this is really a must-see match. Yes, that was sarcasm! What did I think of what happended previously on iMPACT Wrestling? Let’s find out!

DVD Review: Immortal Forever?

It’s been under a year since the arrival of “Immortal” into TNA Wrestling, but TNA Wrestling has released their first DVD about the group. The DVD picks up with the announcement of Hulk Hogan joining TNA Wrestling and closees with Jeff Hardy’s fued with “The Icon” Sting. While the group of Immortal might not be as strong as it once was, it’s still a force to be reckoned with. Does the release live up to the greatness that is Hulk Hogan? TNA Action Figure Review: Samoa Joe

It has been awhile since Jakks Pacific put a new figure series out on the market, but they might have hit a home-run with Deluxe iMPACT Series 5. In the next few articles, I will break down each figure’s pros and cons. I’m going to take a look at “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe’s figure first right after the cut!

Samoa Joe is a good example of a wrestler that Jakks Pacific just can’t seem to get correct. When you look at Joe’s first figures (Deluxe iMPACT 1 and Cross The Line 1), you can tell that something went wrong with them (height, lack of articulation, etc) but Jakks is trying to get it correct in the next round, with a brand new Samoa Joe figure.

Is It Now Quantity over Quality?

I’m a firm believer in the saying of “Quality is greater than Quantity” and it seemed for a while there, that TNA Wrestling was using the mentality  for the World Championship Reigns. Now, we are seeing TNA move away from quality title runs and move toward quantity reigns that we see from other companies. It’s turned into a game of hot potato, but it hasn’t always been like this. I take you down a trip to memory lane since June 2007, and share my thoughts on the game of hot potato, right after the cut.

Who Needs Brand Recognition?!

The simple answer to that question is, TNA Wrestling. I, among others, have been under the impression that the change to “iMPACT Wrestling” was supposed to bring name/brand recognition to the company, yet hasn’t. This is a problem that TNA has struggled with since the inception of the company back in June of 2002. Why you may ask? It’s a pretty cut and dry answers, because everyone (media, companies, non-wrestling fans, etc) hear the words “pro-wrestling” or “pro-wrestler” and automatically think about World Wrestling Entertainment. It’s the same way when non-MMA fans hear “Mixed Martial Arts” or “MMA Fighter”, they think UFC. But, could this be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to TNA?

The Morning (or three) After: Slammiversary

The nine-year anniversary event of TNA Wrestling, “Slammiversary” is in the books. It’s a top-notch card from top to bottom, as champions defend their championships while others defend their pride and glory. Who walks out World Heavyweight Champion? Who walks out the #1 Contender? Does AJ Styles knock the Bully down for good? We’ll answer these questions (and many more), after the break.
