(Try) Wrapping Up A Month In One Article!

It has been a month since I have sat down to write an article – and post it – which some people may have mis-understood that it meant that I was no longer a fan of the product thus not writing anything negative about TNA to “save face”. I can’t speak for every writer on the internet that write about TNA Wrestling, but I don’t write to “save face” or play favorites, I write about TNA Wrestling because I enjoy and care about the product. I’ve made it quite clear over the past three years writing for TNA Revolution that I care about the product good, bad, or indifferent. Sure, there are websites that only want “positive” articles on TNA Wrestling, but the world doesn’t work like that: Nothing is perfect. So, since I have cleared that up for future reference… shall we get down to the point of this article? I think so.

Previously on iMPACT Wrestling…August 25th, 2011

We are two weeks away from “No Surrender” but this show was all about building to next week’s huge edition of “iMPACT” that will feature a Knockouts Championship match between Mickie James and Winter, along with us finding out who will go to “No Surrender” for the finalist spots in the “Bound for Glory Series”. Plus, Sting and Ric Flair are on a collision course because this is really a must-see match. Yes, that was sarcasm! What did I think of what happended previously on iMPACT Wrestling? Let’s find out!

Who Needs Brand Recognition?!

The simple answer to that question is, TNA Wrestling. I, among others, have been under the impression that the change to “iMPACT Wrestling” was supposed to bring name/brand recognition to the company, yet hasn’t. This is a problem that TNA has struggled with since the inception of the company back in June of 2002. Why you may ask? It’s a pretty cut and dry answers, because everyone (media, companies, non-wrestling fans, etc) hear the words “pro-wrestling” or “pro-wrestler” and automatically think about World Wrestling Entertainment. It’s the same way when non-MMA fans hear “Mixed Martial Arts” or “MMA Fighter”, they think UFC. But, could this be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to TNA?

Aaron Shell’s 5 Impacts from IMPACT!

I’ve been away for a bit but I’m back, so please forgive me if I’m a bit rusty. I have my five impacts from last nights IMPACT Wrestling show, but I do have a few problems with the show. Seeing as this is the last show before the Destination X Pay-Per-View, there wasn’t enough interaction between Samoa Joe and Kazarian, and the Ultimate X was only given a quick video.

The UFC-Spike Break-Up and What It Means for TNA!

In October 2005, “TNA iMPACT” made (at the time) the biggest move the company could make, debuting on Spike. The company and network had a very solid relationship, with many moves taking place. “TNA iMPACT” would move from a one hour program at 11PM on Saturday Nights, to the two hour prime time show that we see before us today. There have been many – including myself – who believe TNA has yet to benefit, the way they should. Could the break-up of UFC and Spike be the turning point for TNA Wrestling to step-up to the plate? I’ll break it down on why I believe it could be, right after the break!

IMPACT Wrestling… I Kinda Like It

As many of you know, we here at TNARevolution were pretty skeptical when word first broke that TNA was looking to re-brand itself. It was my opinion that they had spent the better part of the last ten years building up the TNA brand, and to knock it down would feel like a step backwards. That being said, I kinda like how they went about it. Keeping the name IMPACT was crucial for them as it has been their identity for the past seven years now. I like the fact that they are focusing on the IMPACT name, but keeping TNA has the company name. It would be like WWE with RAW and Smackdown. IMPACT Wrestling is TNA’s brand, TNA is the company. I also love the fact that TNA has emphasized the word wrestling in this new branding. As much as Vince McMahon wants to call his company a sports entertainment company, it will always be a wrestling company first. IMPACT Wrestling is embracing that fact while WWE is trying as hard as they can to hide it. I applaud TNA for this move.

People out there may say that an all wrestling program could never work, and they may be right. Problem is that nobody since the 1980s has given it a true chance on a national outlet. IMPACT Wrestling has that national showcase to give it a try, and I think it will finally pay off. IMPACT Wrestling has needed to be an alternative to WWE for several years now, but they have been basically a knock off of WWE instead. Now is the time to truly become that alternative by focusing on the in-ring action instead of countless skits and ridiculous story lines. I am actually excited to see if they can pull it off.

iMPACT Wrestling: Pro-Wrestling Matters!

Pro-Wrestling fans need to unite, as pro-wrestling matters again. TNA Wrestling has rebranded their program as “iMPACT Wrestling”, where wrestling matters again. Excuse me, I need to go set the confetti cannon off and set off the pyrotechnics.
